Likes and Dislikes with the Pebble Smartwatch

So after roughly two week with the Pebble Smartwatch, here's my likes and dislikes. I'm not going to mention notifications as a like because that's a bit obvious I think. I'm going to list five likes and five dislikes.

Pebble Smartwatch

So let's start with the likes!

  1. The design of the Pebble, it's just beautiful and it fits my wrists just amazing. I've had the opportunity to try on both the Galaxy Gear and the Sony Smartwatch 2 (sw2) not for a longer period of time, but at least enough to say that for me the pebble is just a perfect fit.

  2. The battery life it just amazing and for me it lasts 4-5 days on a charge, and I get lots of mail daily about 30-50 on any given day. Not having to charge the pebble every night is a big deal.

  3. One application I've been using a lot is Glance for Pebble (Google play store link) and this application has made many of my tasks easier and faster, for example one of the things I can do with the Glance application is quick response with an sms, so when I get a call for example I've made one of the quick responses for “I'm in a meeting, I'll call you back when I'm done” i know I can do this on my phone but no I don't have to take my phone out of my pocket, I can do it right from my wrist and that's amazing.

  4. The alarm function on my wrist, awesome for my quick naps between meetings or when I take a powernap on the couch. (I never have my phone in my pocket so I don't feel it vibrate and the sound is always of, lots of meetings so I never turn sound on)

  5. This is the absolute best thing with the pebble and it's the application Tasker for Pebble, if you don't know what Tasker is click here. When we started building our house I amidetly knew I wanted home automation, and with Tasker I can do almost anything from my phone, and with Tasker for Pebble I can now do this from my wrist (geeky but awesome) such as turn on and off lights unlock the doors, open my garage port and many more things. And as u said this is geeky but really awesome.

Now over to the dislikes

  1. The lack of touch, i would have liked to have some sort of touch on the Pebble, don't get me wrong the tactile buttons work just fine but some tasks take too long to get to when you're in a hurry.

  2. You can't delete the standard watchfaces, and this is really bad, if I want to change watchfaces I just want to download a new one, and stick with it, I can't count how many times I've accidently change my watchfaces and had to change it back this is no deal breaker but I would like the opportunity to choose all of my watchfaces.

  3. The charging cable, it's nice, it's magnetic but it's not the strongest and fell of easily, plus I've already misplaced it a handful of times. Micro USB would be preferred.

  4. That I have to have 2 notification applications to get all notifications to my pebble, the one that's built in to the pebble os for all except google+ and my work mail for this I have to use a third party application, I hope this will be changed in the near future.

  5. That some apps costs a bit too much, and that there's no quality check on the apps, this will hopefully be fixed when the pebble app store launches.

Well this is some of the things I've noticed after using the pebble for two weeks if there's anything you want me to go deeper into just let me know.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned more to come!
