Let's talk about XTEINK X4 - My thoughts

In this video I wanted to talk about the XTEINK X4 - the e-Reader that I love so much at the moment and the e-Reader company that everyone is talking about at the moment. The XTEINK X4 together with my iPhone Air is everything I need for reading ebooks at the moment. All in sync using KOReader sync between Readest on my iPhone Air and Crosspoint on my XTEINK X4.

This fork transforms the device into a habit-building powerhouse, adding features like the Lyra Carousel Home theme, which displays a 3-book cover carousel, and Flashcards study modes (Due, Scheduled, and Infinite) for offline learning via CSV decks. My favorite fork is called CrossInk for it's beautiful typography and easiness.

Powered by the efficient ESP32-C3, the X4 is an "endurance beast." A 650mAh battery provides roughly 14 days of use with daily sessions of 1–3 hours. It is a "set it and forget it" companion that outlasts the smartphone it attaches to.

Potential users should be aware of the "UV Achilles' Heel" on the Frost White version. The casing is thin enough that UV light can penetrate the shell, causing E-ink text to fade in direct sunlight. While the text returns to normal once you step indoors, it is a known quirk. The Space Black version, however, is reported to be immune to this sunlight fading issue.

6. The Tinkerer’s Advantage: Open-Source Freedom

The X4 appeals to minimalists who enjoy "fiddling" with their gadgets to reach peak performance. Installation of CPR-vCodex is exceptionally simple via xteink.dve.al. This web-based tool uses OTA fast flash terminology to update the firmware via Chrome or Edge over a USB-C connection in just minutes.

The community-driven utility is evident in apps like:

• "If Found, Please Return Me": Displays owner contact info from a .txt file on the SD card.
• Advanced Sleep Tools: Customizes sleep images with directory selection and shuffle behavior.
