One of my favorite apps on my iPhone (unfortunately not available on the iPad) is Hooks. It's an incredible useful app to get notifications from basically anything really. And it recently got updated in a quite huge update. At least what I think. Because it now support an RSS Feed search engine so you easily can find RSS feeds you want to be notified when they get updated. And now your notification stream looks really beautiful too.
And except for RSS feeds you can be notified for such a lot more things. I for example get notified when my favorite TV series has aired, when there is some drastic weather change where I live, I get alerted from keyword Google searches I've added, I get notified from specific keywords on Twitter, I get notified when specific Twitter users tweets, I get notified when a new podcast is available, I get notified when a specific YouTube channel has published a new video and much much more.
I can highly recommend the iOS app Hooks.
