Teragon Audio - BeatCounter v1.2 (Pc/Mac/Free)

About
BeatCounter is a simple plugin designed to facilitate beatmatching software and turntables. It displays the current tempo in beats per minute (BPM), while the bottom window displays an accumulated average over the last few seconds. BeatCounter is the perfect tool for DJ's that want to integrate computer effects or elements with turntables.

Features

* Lowpass filter with variable frequency
* Displays both the current BPM and the accumulated total over the last 5-20 seconds
* Can link against the host's tempo within +/- 10BPM
* Low CPU usage
* Protection against breakdowns or other sudden amplitude drops
* Adjustable detection tolerance

Installation, Usage and Operation

To install this plugin, simply copy it to your system's VST directory. Using BeatCounter is simple; just route the signal you want to detect to the plugin, and open up the editor. The plugin will immediately start counting.

To improve accuracy, use the "Filter" and "Link" buttons. The filter will apply a simple lowpass filter at 400Hz, although this frequency can be adjusted in the plugin's parameters (ie, through your host outside of the graphical editor).

The link feature will reject all tempos that are either 10BPM greater or less than the host's BPM, and they will not be added to the accumulated BPM display. When BeatCounter finds tempos outside of this range, the current BPM window will be displayed in red -- this is a hint that you are off-beat.

Sometimes drastic changes in music, deep bass pulses, short breakdowns, or other types of information may confuse BeatCounter. To reset the plugin, simply press the "Reset" button. This will not only zero both the BPM displays, but it will also reset the plugin's internal counters used for beat detection.
