Visualizer in use (Studio Testimonial)

"So, I have been getting good use out of your new visualizer. Its release coincided with a session I was recording for a rock band. On play back I noticed low frequency sound that was very disruptive. I soon realized that the sound was coming from the floor tom--vibration from the kit was creating a low frequency resonant build up inside the floor tom which was recorded to hard drive. My first instinct was to use a gate, however the gate was not just cutting out the low frequency resonant build up but also higher frequency bleed that I thought complimentary to the over sound of the drum kit. Unable to to get the gate threshhold to a level where the low frequencies were attenuated while leaving the high frequency of the various drum hits alone, I decided upon a new approach. I analyzed the floor tom track with the Nugen Visualizer and was able to pinpoint exactly where the low frequency resonant build up was--I found it occupying the 150Hz and under part of the sonic spectrum. The Visualizer also revealed that much of the high frequency bleed I wanted to exploit was centered around 6kHz. I processed the track with an EQ plug set with a highpass filter at 150Hz and a +2db boost at 6kHz. The lows in the track were succesfully attenuated and I was able to get the mid and high frequency bleed I was after; the Visualizer\'s performance assured that I did not cut out a disproportionate amount of low frequencies or boost an inordinate amount of highs. I have other spectrum analyzers , like from Waves and elemental Audio, but yours was especially useful because I did not have to load different plug-ins or change pages to view the spectroscope or the spectrum analyzer or the level meter---it was all there in one box for quick and easy comparison which made is quick and easy for me to make informed decisions with my audio editing. The size was also convenient--I don\'t have my display spread across three monitors so monitor space is precious; too often I find myself closing and reopening what seems to be a thousand windows in order to get things done. For my work flow, a small version is great for mixing and a larger display would be good for mastering (I rarely work with over three windows a time during mastering). I also just like the display, the colors used, etc. When you are mixing in the box like I do, it really helps to have software that is easy on the eyes. thanks"
