I don't think Google will release the next big update of Android called Key Lime Pie this year. Not until 2014. The reason is that I think Google will stay on the Jelly Bean platform much longer than they have done before, and fine adjusting it with small updates. I think that is the best thing to do, so that manufacturers can keep up with the Android updates and launch phones that runs on the latest OS version. Oh, and the LG Optimus G2 looks to be an interesting phone ;) Could it be the next Google Nexus Phone?
