Microsoft will release the Surface Pro 2 later this year, but now a rumor has showed up about that Microsoft is also working on a 7-inch Surface tablet. And that tablet should be a Xbox Surface, a tablet based on Windows RT with a lot of Xbox features built-in. Maybe it will be a companion device to the coming Xbox 720?
I have said many times that I think that Microsoft should use the popular Xbox brand for their mobile devices too. Maybe that could help Microsoft sell the Surface.
Update:
Microsoft confirmed on the latest earnings conference call, that they is working on smaller, cheaper Windows 8 tablets that are expected to arrive in coming months.
Seattle Times reporter Janet Tu tweeted this:
Microsoft CFO Peter Klein confirms company is working w/OEMs on smaller devices, at lower price points, to be available in coming months.
