Oppo VP Resigns - or is it to form a sub-brand for new phones running CyanogenMod?

A week ago I posted about the news that Cyanogen Inc. together with Oppo is working on a new brand of devices, with the best specs available, and running CyanogenMod. Well now it seems that Oppo’s VP, Pete Lau is leaving Oppo. The reason is unclear but he is leaving to form a new company, could that be that company that will make this new brand of devices running CyanogenMod? It sure could be.

Koushik Dutta from Cyanogen says that they are discussing with Pete Lau about their (Cyanogen) vision for “a phone that would fuse truly amazing software with the highest quality hardware available. Together, we’re setting out to create that product. Stay tuned”.

Rumors of a device powered by a 2.5 Ghz Snapdragon has since then circulated out on the Chinese social network Sina Weibo. All this is still very unclear though, already in my first post, I mentioned that Oppo will put aside a few people to start working on this new brand, and maybe that is what the news about Pete Lau leaving Oppo for a new company is all about?

So I guess we need more info on this to be sure, but that something is going on between Cyanogen and Oppo is definitely true. And I think it sounds very interesting! I would gladly buy such a phone when or if it will become a reality.
