The Well of ascension (Mistborn #2) by Brandon Sanderson is the third fantasy novel I've read since I've read the Lord of the Rings 25 years ago. The second one was The Final Empire (Mistborn #1) by Brandon Sanderson.
If you don't count Neil Gaiman and Clive Barker's books as fantasy that is.
The reason why I haven't read fantasy is because I'm more of a horror fan.
But after reading the two first books of the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, I must admit that I'm starting to like it. I'm not sure that I will like more traditional fantasy like Game of Thrones though. There is something special with how Brandon Sanderson writes that I like and especially with the Mistborn world.
I like the magic system in the Mistborn world, and in Well of ascension it develops even further. In the first book, the final empire, I thought the fighting scenes were a bit boring but in Well of ascension they were way better.
Reading the Mistborn books is like transporting yourself into that world, and after the Well of Ascension it feels like I know much more about the world, the people and it's habitat.
Another thing that is much better in Well of ascension is that Vin doesn't have time to go on any Proms.. It was really boring to read those chapters in the final empire..
And I also like the different monsters in the Mistborn world. Maybe that is because I'm a horror fan after all.
I also like the mysticism that Brandon Sanderson adds to the story. Seeking after the well of ascension, and what it really is. I like the adventure-like story there. And also what or who the Hero of Ages really is. I like it.
It will be very interesting and exciting to read the last book in the Mistborn trilogy, the Hero of Ages. I will wait a few books before I read it though. There is so much good books to read!
I give the Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson 4/5 in score.
